Behind the Scenes of My Mixed Media Teddy Roosevelt Portrait

BOOM that’s right- I drew the whole picture before I started to add paint.

Roosevelt was an avid conservationist who created the U.S. Forest Service and established national parks; I found his commitment to nature inspiring and wanted to reflect it in my painting.

Getting close to the mid-point in my process.

I used a mixed media approach planning out where I should let the charcoal texture shine through and where I should add my pops of color. The result is rugged outdoorsy portrait that captures Roosevelt’s personality.

NOW it is complete

Would my Teddy portrait be a nice edition to my print drop?
