Capturing Dolly's Spirit With This New Painting Technique

Think of the colors you see in an old Polaroid

I hope this newsletter finds you well and inspired to create. Today, I wanted to share with you a painting technique that has completely transformed the way I approach my art in terms of preserving the depth and richness of an old reference photo.

I used this Polaroid and a Dolly reference photo to try and create the vintage effect.

I’ve been trying to achieve this since I started painting a few years back, using wood stain to try and bring a vintage feel to some of the Icons that I create.(That didn’t work out too well), but I discovered a painting technique called “Glazing” which I incorporated into my Dolly portrait this week.

Here’s the finished piece after glazing and reapplying highlights.

Would you like to see my Vintage-esque Dolly painting added to my print drop?
