Mom Knew My Purpose at Age 3 —Here’s That Story

Hey,

Turns out, my Mom knew I’d be a painter when I was just three years old.

Three…

Moms just know—seriously, it’s like they have a sixth sense, and they’re almost always right… about EVERYTHING.

It’s kinda scary how spot-on they can be when it comes to us.

Robert Greene, the author of “Mastery,” says our interests and passions before age 10 can hint at our life’s purpose. Well, for me, that definitely came true.

So, I convinced my Mom to voice-record the story below for you all. She really put on her storytelling hat, so I hope you enjoy listening.

And for all my readers out there, don’t worry—I got her to transcribe it too.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a fun little story about Sam’s very first painting experience—or at least the first one we really knew about!

Sam was about three years old at the time. I left him in the kitchen with his older brother, Gray, while I took one of those famous "mom showers"—the kind that last only one or two minutes.

I jumped in, jumped out, and rushed back to the kitchen to check on them. But before I even got there, I noticed something odd: the unmistakable smell of peanut butter.

I walked in and, to my surprise, there was sweet little Sam covered in peanut butter from head to toe. Not just him—the floors, the cabinets, and even poor Gray were slathered too!

Somehow, Sam had managed to get a giant Costco-sized jar of peanut butter off the counter and was using it like paint, creating his own little masterpiece.

I couldn’t help but laugh. I asked, “Sam, what are you doing, baby?” He just looked up at me with that adorable grin and those little cowlicks in his hair and said, “I paintin’ peanut butter, Mama.”

It was such a hilarious and heartwarming moment that made me realize just how creative Sam was—even from the very beginning. And from that day on, his creativity has only grown!

Disclaimer! This is not me but a great almost accurate visual. Bah!

Thank you for doing this for me Mom! (if you’re reading this) ❤️

I really think I can remember this moment, the intense joy of just being free to create.

I know I can't be the only one with a story like this that foreshadowed your purpose. If you have one, email me back—I’d love to hear it.

Also, please share the best books you've read on purpose, creativity, or anything along those lines. I'm on the hunt for new inspiration as I dive into my next big art piece!

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Sam
