This looked insane at the time

Business from obsession, not permission

This was one of my first paintings.

Painted in my dorm room September 2020.
Balanced on a busted guitar amp for an easel.

I had just sold this painting of Prince without a gallery, without gatekeepers.

“honestly… who am I?” I Thought.

But maybe that’s what it takes. Slight delusion of a dream.
It wasn’t supposed to work.

Obsession > “qualified”

I was obsessed with creating.

real obsession… probably didn’t help my gpa too much.

This was the start of my 10,000 hours.
Trying to become the best artist I could.

Between football practice, biology labs,
loan debt, and the pressure to not let people down or myself
I had to find a way out.

Art wasn’t just an outlet.
It became the only way forward in my eyes.

That season forced me to build something from nothing.

UPDATE:

Working on a couple new painting ideas right now while still completing the 2 I started a while back.

Headed out for a walk,
See you next Friday.

Thanks for reading.
